Implantation bleeding Vs Period – How to tell them apart

Changes in the menstrual cycle have been a part of our lives since we were little. Each woman’s menstrual cycle is unique and entirely dependent on the physical characteristics. Blood flow may become heavy or light, shortening or lengthening. The 5-8 day period she has every 28 days is still considered to be a regular cycle. Period problems are very typical, but bleeding when pregnant could come knocking. Implantation bleeding Vs Period is the most searched phrase on Google. So what is the difference? Continue reading to find out more.

What’s implantation bleeding?

It is normal for up to 25% of pregnant women to experience this type of bleeding. The embryo typically adheres to the endometrium a few days or less after fertilization.

In order to learn what causes implantation bleeding and what to do if it occurs, HealthClub contacted Dr. Esha Sharma, a fertility specialist at Nova IVF Fertility East in Siliguri.

Due to the accompanying minor vaginal bleeding, according to Dr. Sharma, it’s frequently mistaken for a light period. Yet that doesn’t mean you’re having pregnancy problems, but it implies that you might be expecting.

1. Bleeding date

Menstruation normally lasts 5-8 days, relying on the age and physique sort of the person, whereas implantation bleeding lasts for a brief interval of 24-48 hours.

2. Blood Flow

While typical periods are heavier in the beginning and lighter toward the end, implantation bleeding may cause the flow to be quite mild.

3. Signs

Uterine spasms are typically associated with the start of menstruation; however, they may be quite mild or even nonexistent during implantation bleeding.

4. Blood Colour

Implantation bleeding can be identified from menstrual or implantation bleeding by colour. While implantation bleeding is typically pale pink or light rust in colour, menstrual bleeding is typically light or dark crimson in colour.

Heavy bleeding, blood clots, and other menstruation problems should never be disregarded.

5. Blood clot

In contrast to menstruation, implantation bleeding doesn’t present clots or tissue within the blood.

Approach to implantation bleeding

When the egg and sperm fertilize, implantation bleeding occurs. The fertilized egg then proceeds through the fallopian tube and into the uterus. The fertilized egg enters the uterine cavity and installs itself within the lining of the uterine wall after fertilization. The passage of the embryo (egg-sperm mixture) through the uterine wall causes the destruction of tiny blood vessels, resulting in implantation bleeding.
