Celebrities have a significant impact in bringing attention to a variety of topics, including rare diseases. 1. Pervez Musharraf died of Amyloidosis
On February 5, 2023, reports surfaced that the former president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, had passed away following a protracted illness caused by amyloidosis. According to the NHS, amyloidosis is the term used to describe a group of rare and serious medical conditions brought on by the accumulation of amyloid (irregular protein) in organs and tissues. Amyloid protein accumulation results in the dysfunction of tissues and organs. It actually has the potential to cause organ failure if untreated. Currently, there is no cure for amyloidosis, nor can the amyloid deposits be removed right away. Nonetheless, people can choose treatments that stop the production of the irregular protein. Chemotherapy is the main component of treatments.

2. Bruce Willis first disclosed that he has frontotemporal dementia
Hollywood actor Bruce Willis has disclosed that, at the age of 67, he has frontotemporal dementia. He was diagnosed with aphasia last year, a condition that impairs speaking. Willis currently has frontotemporal dementia as a result of this condition’s progression. It is a rare kind of dementia that affects speech and behavior. According to the NHS, people with frontotemporal dementia experience symptoms in both the front and side of their minds. Regrettably, doctors have not yet found a cure for frontotemporal dementia.
3. Varun Dhawan is battling vestibular hypofunction
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan disclosed that he was experiencing vestibular hypofunction in a 2022 interview. According to the Journal of Neurology, the symptoms including imbalance, agitation, and dizziness.
In a Conclave interview, Dhawan said that he had “shut down.” He acknowledged that his vestibular hypofunction was the main factor that “threw him off stability.” He continued by saying that he was much better off as a result of swimming, yoga, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes. Simple tasks like getting out of a chair, holding objects in your hands, and climbing stairs may seem difficult due to the resulting muscular pain and irritation.
